Case Study: PlanetRecruit

PlanetRecruit

PlanetRecruit is an on-line recruitment portal and services company. It receives job vacancies from recruitment agencies and makes them available to the public on its web sites. Anyone interested in a vacancy is directed to the appropriate recruitment agency. The company also feeds subsections of its jobs and people database to other web sites on a syndicated basis. Instead of competing directly with recruitment agencies, PlanetRecruit assists them by providing another channel to market for their jobs. The company makes its money by charging recruitment agencies a monthly fee for the service.

Cartezia became involved with PlanetRecruit at a very early stage, when the company consisted of a web site and the two founders. We worked with the founders on almost every aspect of developing and growing the business. Our work included market positioning, developing a commercial model (including pricing strategies), introductions to content and service partnerships, funding (including valuation, angel and institutional investment), management team building (including the finance director and chairman) and CEO mentoring.

PlanetRecruit was acquired by the Hot Group, an AIM-listed company, in 2003. The Hot Group was itself acquired by Trinity Mirror in 2005.
