Case Study: Virgin Media

Virgin Media, formerly known as ntl:Telewest, was created by a merger between NTL and Telewest. it describes itself as a 'quadruple-play' company, bringing together a service consisting of television, internet, mobile phone and fixed-line telephone services. As the only major cable company in the UK, it competes in the market with the major pay-TV operator, BSkyB, and with Freeview, the free-to-air terrestrial service.

Cartezia's work with Telewest, as it then was, laid the foundations for the service deployed today. We conceived and helped to build the early versions of the Blue Yonder broadband portal, which embodied all the key elements of the quadruple play strategy. We created the Broadband content strategy for the business, then helped to develop the Customer Proposition and Commercial model. We also identified potential content and service partners and helped to negotiate agreements with them. And to bring the service to life, we also designed and built a prototype of the first consumer portal.
