Dr. Uday Phadke - Founder & CEO of Cartezia
Cartezia is an Advisory Firm which has helped to build over 100 tech-centric companies over the last 20 years. Dr Phadke has focused on how science and technology enabled innovation can be translated to deliver commercial impact. This work spans three inter-related areas:

-
Working closely with commercial businesses to create new products, services and business models.
-
Academic research and teaching in technology, innovation, and business.
-
The design and promotion of national and international innovation initiatives.
Dr Phadke is the originator of the Triple Chasm approach, which challenges many of the commonly held perceptions about how innovations are transformed to create commercial, social, and environmental impact.
He is the lead author of a ground-breaking book published in 2017 called ‘Camels, Tigers & Unicorns: Rethinking science and technology-enabled innovation’. He is also the lead author of a book published in 2018 called ‘The Scale-up Manual: Handbook for Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Teams and Firms’, which has become the basis for many global programmes on science and technology commercialisation. He leads the Idea to Impact Research Programme managed by the Triple Chasm Company.
He holds an MA in Engineering from Trinity College, Cambridge, and a PhD from the University of Sussex. He is a Strategic Advisor to several tech-centric companies in Europe, Asia and the Americas. In addition, he is a Director of The Research & Development Society working on Industrial Strategy and the economics of growth. He is also a non-Executive Director of the Stevenage Bio-Catalyst, focused on commercialising innovations in Lifesciences. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) in 2018 and he has also served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Judge Business School.
